Founded in 1961 by Yves Saint Laurent and Pierre Bergé, shortly after the young fashion designer left to run Christian Dior, Yves Saint Laurent soon became one of the most successful and influential haute couture houses in Paris. The publication begins with a concise history of the house, followed by a brief biographical profile of Yves Saint Laurent, and then presents the collections in chronological order. Each collection is introduced by a short text revealing its influences and highlights, and illustrated with a gallery of carefully selected photographs from the catwalks. These show hundreds of spectacular garments, details, accessories, beauty looks and sets - and of course the top models who wore all these pieces on the catwalks.
